In this session Kathryn Weaver and Louise Le Pla of Ius Laboris UK Lewis Silkin Hong Kong office will be talking through the key cases and legislative developments which employers should be aware of for the coming year. From the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s policy changes, to extensions to paternity (and possibly maternity) leave, the Labour Tribunal being empowered to make orders for compulsory reinstatement or reengagement, and proposed revisions to discrimination laws. All of these key developments in Hong Kong will be discussed with what these developments mean for employers on a practical level.

The focus will be on Hong Kong but other significant developments in APAC jurisdictions such as China, Australia and Singapore will also touched upon. In addition to providing a round-up of the key cases and other developments over the past year, a mention on what is on the horizon for 2019 will also be discussed.
